Learning Disabilities Caring Solutions
This project aims to pilot a new model for residential service development in which service users’ families and/or advocates work in partnership with care staff, educationalists and key service providers. It has been set up to review training materials and programmes undertaken by ‘family/advocate trainers’ nationally for use within learning disability residential care settings and to develop a proposal for a ‘family as trainers' partnership package to be tested locally within a learning disability residential care setting.
Learning Disabilities Caring Solutions is supported by funding from Wandsworth Primary Care Trust, Mencap Foundation and the WestFocus Knowledge Exchange. The group holds regular meetings to raise awareness of challenges faced by people with a learning disability and to improve access to services.
