Employability

An estimated 85 per cent of all our students obtain employment within six months of graduating from Kingston and St George’s.

Students have access to excellent facilities across the two universities, which enables them to prepare sufficiently for workplace practice. These include simulated learning environments such as hospital wards, social care settings and state-of-the-art medical facilities. Students also have access to the Nightingale Centre, an ultra-modern learning resources centre located at Kingston University’s Kingston Hill campus.

Midwifery

  • Modern skills laboratories offer students the chance to develop their skills in a environment specifically designed for their vocational training
  • Average of 97 per cent of nursing students are employed six months after graduating
Paramedic science
  • The Guardian University Guide League Table for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 rated Kingston and St George’s top in London for paramedic science
  • You will gain 1800 hours placement experience, 1125 of which will be with the London Ambulance Service (LAS), one of the busiest ambulance services in the world
  • 95 per cent of students obtain immediate employment at the LAS, and remaining students gain employment within six months of qualifying
  • Purpose-built paramedic simulation suite and immersion room at the St George’s campus enhances student learning experience
  • Accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council, UK
  • Placements in London and beyond expose students to an extensive range of emergency care scenarios
Radiography
  • 50% of our undergraduate radiography courses are clinical – ensuring students develop practical skills and knowledge
  • Clinical experience is gained in two core hospitals, with visits to other specialist hospitals to observe and experience a range of techniques and equipment
  • Practice placements are provided in hospital diagnostic imaging departments, where experience is gained in operating theatres, accident and emergency departments, and resuscitation rooms
Rehabilitation sciences
  • Accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council, UK
  • ‘High quality research’ rating in the 2013 Research Excellence Framework
  • All graduates of the school obtain employment within six months of receiving their degree
Social work
  • Over 50 per cent of students graduating in 2014 were offered employment at work settings where they had completed their final practice placements
  • 100 per cent of all students obtain employment within six months of qualifying
  • The purpose-built Practice Learning Suite provides unique teaching experience to help students develop their skills and maximise their chances of securing work

Kingston and St George’s is well known for providing vocational courses led by academics and teaching staff, all of whom are leaders in their fields. Many of them are practising professionals, and you will benefit significantly from workforce-based knowledge.
