Cardiac rehabilitation Apply Cardiac rehabilitation This module is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to organise, manage and deliver a Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation programme within a community setting. It will be based on the national guidelines for cardiac rehabilitation which promote evidence-based practice for individuals who have had a known cardiac event. Students will be equipped with knowledge of aspects of cardiac disease, be exposed to the multi-disciplinary nature of effective cardiac rehabilitation services. Learning outcomes: Critically evaluate the literature concerning cardiac rehabilitation Determine components and elements of an effective cardiac rehabilitation programme Critically evaluate information from cardiac units in secondary care to provide an effective cardiac rehabilitation programme Critically consider strategies to improve adherence with cardiac rehabilitation and facilitate long term behaviour change for patients with cardiac disease Combine the ability to deliver, evaluate and critique practical and theoretical cardiac rehabilitation strategies Who is the module for? Suitable for practitioners with an interest in exercise and the potential of physical activity. Module code: ER709X Entry criteria: Applicants should normally have, or be expected to achieve a 2:1 honours degree (or international equivalent) in a related discipline e.g. sport, healthcare or physiology related subject. If you are an international student, you will also need an English Language Qualification such as IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in each section), or other equivalent recognised language qualification.
