Study day: Administration of injections yearly update for healthcare assistants

Course content:

  • Review of last year’s influenza campaign
  • Administration of the nasal influenza vaccine to children what you need to know to undertake this role safely
  • Update on current issues related to immunisation
  • Recognition and management of adult and child Anaphylaxis and Basic Life Support training using an ALS simulator (certificate provided)
  • Injection technique refresher including subcutaneous and intramuscular
  • Q & A session

Please come dressed suitable for a clinical skills workshop, hair tied back, short nails, no nail varnish or jewellery, closed shoes.
Who is this study day for? This course is designed for healthcare assistants who have completed a two or three day influenza, pneumococcal and B12 injection training course. As recommended by the NMC National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for Healthcare Support Workers.
