"Health professionals are increasingly required to prescribe"

This updated and newly validated course was developed in response to the growing expectation that nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals (registered with the Health Professions Council) will increasingly be required to prescribe, if health service targets for improving rapid acces to medicines are to be reached.

The module focuses on developing the pharmacology knowledge base and physical examination with history taking that underpins safe and effective prescribing, as well as the theory and practice of prescribing.

Course leader Ahmed Younis is principal lecturer in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. He is leading on developing the blended learning approach, whereby students are taught using a mixture of classroom and online sessions. For CPD courses this is especially crucial, as students generally study next to their full time work commitments. The Prescribing course is based on those principles: 25% of face to face teaching is supplemented with 75% of extensive online resources.

Read more about the course including dates, location, course content and how to apply - along with an interview with course leader Ahmed Younis, and links to other related courses.

This course will start in September 2010. For more information and an application form please contact us on cpdpo@sgul.kingston.ac.uk or 020 8725 1755.
