Dear colleague,

Welcome to the July issue of CPPD: What's New - outlining the latest news, courses and services offered by the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences.

In this issue, our featured course is 'Developing leadership skills' which will help participants to gain a clearer understanding of leadership in relation to patient care. This course can be offered as a bespoke programme funded through the CPPD contract.

In this issue, our featured course is our new practice pathway specific award in Primary Care - General Practice. The course has been designed in collaboration with local Primary Care Trusts for nurses who work in General Practice. You can also find out about research opportunities available through the MRes in Clinical Practice which has part-time self-funded places available, starting this September.

Our roadshows are continuing in the Trusts and it's been a pleasure to meet some of you at our update sessions on the pre-registration BSc(Hons) Nursing. So far we've visited hospitals and clinics in Balham, Croydon, St Helier, Surbiton, Wandsworth, and Wimbledon and we have several other organisations still to visit. If you see our stand, do please come along and say hello and pick up some information and freebies.

Best wishes,

The CPPD team

This course will equip you with the skills needed to participate in the academic community as a clinical practice researcher. Research activities may include engagement in research, debate and discussion, adoption of an evidence-based approach to practice, presentations at clinical meetings and conferences, or by publication in clinical journals.

The interprofessional nature of the MRes in Clinical Practice means that students vary in terms of professional background and grade. As a consequence you will gain alternative perspectives and discover the diverse application of research theory. This will enable you to engage effectively in collaborative research.

Read more about the MRes in Clinical Practice on the St George's, University of London website.
