School of Social Work seminar series
The Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences' School of Social Work is delighted to present a series of seminars at their Kingston Hill Campus. The seminars are delivered by leading national and international researchers, policy makers and commentators and focus on issues of topical and contemporary importance. The seminars are open to all staff and students at Kingston University and at St George’s, University of London, staff in local social services in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors, and to service users and carers and their organisations who assist with the School's social work education programmes.
In this free seminar, the seventh of the series, Marian Brandon will discuss how she directs analyses of serious case reviews for The Department of Children, Schools and Families in England and for the Welsh Assembly Government.
Marian Brandon is Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the University of East Anglia and Director of Post Qualifying Programmes. Her research activity focuses on child maltreatment, family support and inter-agency working.
Marian directed the national evaluation of the Common Assessment Framework (a generic assessment for children with additional needs) and the Lead Professional (a single point of contact for a child and their family when a range of services are involved) guidance and implementation for England in 2006, and an equivalent study for Wales in 2009.
