Is WHODAS 2.0 a meaningful outcome measure in community rehabilitation?
An exploration of content and construct validity of a generic disability measure from the perspective of clients of a community rehabilitation team in London.
Presented by Stefan Kulnik, MRes student
Disability is a commonly measured outcome in rehabilitation practice. The World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0) is a relatively new self-reported measure of disability based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).
The study aimed to investigate qualitative aspects of content and construct validity of WHODAS 2.0 with respect to its use as an outcome measure in a community rehabilitation service in London.
It applied a phenomenological approach with a grounded theory method of data collection and analysis.
Qualitative interviews and interviewer-administered WHODAS 2.0 were conducted with ten service users. Participants’ accounts were compared with the measure’s content and construct of disability.
