Hilary Tompsett, Head of the Faculty's School of Social Work, is one of three new members appointed to the General Social Care Council (GSCC), England's social care workforce regulator.
Mrs Tompsett, who has worked in social work education since 1991, is chair of the Learning and Teaching Sub Committee of the Joint University Council Social Work Education Committee for Surrey and Sussex.
Two other new members, Haqeeq Bostan, an independent consultant and John Knight, Assistant Director of Leonard Cheshire Disability and recent speaker at the School of Social Work’s Research conference were also appointed.
In welcoming the new members, General Social Care Council Chair Rosie Varley said:
“It is a great pleasure to welcome Hilary Tompsett, Haqeeq Bostan and John Knight as new members of the General Social Care Council. They bring with them a wealth of experience in social care and related fields that will help the GSCC in continuing to take forward its ambitions of raising standards in social care. It is testament to the importance of the work of social workers that the GSCC is able to secure the membership of such able and committed people.”
