The Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education’s Professor Tom Quinn has been honoured by the European Society of Cardiology’s Acute Cardiovascular Care Association.

The prestigious organisation awarded Professor Quinn the title ‘Established Specialist in the Field of Acute Cardiovascular Care’, which recognises the expertise of cardiologists holding a permanent leading position or with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the field.

Professor Quinn, who originally trained as a nurse and worked in the NHS for more than 30 years, said he was proud to have received the title, particularly as it is rare for nurses to be recognised in this way.

This new accolade follows Professor Quinn’s achievement earlier this year when he was commended by the Acute Cardiovascular Care Association (ACCA) Board for his research work in pre-hospital and emergency care.
