Biography
Arthur is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences where he teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students
Arthur qualified in 1978 as a registered general nurse at Lewisham and Guy’s Hospital and two years later, as a registered mental health nurse at the Maudsley Hospital. In the five years that followed, Arthur was a charge nurse at the Mother and Baby Unit and Acute Psychiatric Ward in Bethlem Royal Hospital. In 1985 took up post as an in-service training officer at Warlingham Park Hospital. He has also worked in the field of forensic psychiatry at Springfield University Hospital in south west London.
Between 1987-1991 Arthur completed an undergraduate degree in health studies and a postgraduate certificate in education of adults at Surrey University. In 1993 Arthur completed a masters in health psychology at City University, London. Arthur obtained his doctorate from Kingston University in 2008, and has presented his doctorial work on the 'Couvade Syndrome and fathers and gestation' at a number of conferences in Ireland, the UK, Spain and Canada as well as being interviewed on television on numerous occasions about his research investigating a hormonal link to ‘sympathy pregnancies’ in men.
