Biography
Chris is a registered nurse with specialist expertise in the field of emergency nursing and pre-hospital care. Since moving into education, he has held a number of posts in the Faculty, including critical care pathway leader in the post-qualifying continuing professional development framework and course director for the Diploma/BSc Health Care Practice programme.
In his current post, Chris has lead responsibility for postgraduate developments in the School of Nursing, most recently validating an innovative MSc in Advanced Practice. He also leads on the workforce development portfolio, which prepares practitioners for new roles in the NHS such as the emergency care practitioner and physician assistant. This work cuts across professional boundaries and involves collaboration with a variety of key stakeholders in the healthcare sector at both local and national levels.
Chris’s PhD thesis focused on a multiple method evaluation of the emergency nurse practitioner role in major accident and emergency departments and he is currently supervising a doctoral study of the emergency care practitioner role in London.
Chris was awarded a Smith and Nephew Foundation Nursing Research Fellowship in 1998 and is currently a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
