Biography
Hugh Barr is joint editor-in-chief of the Journal of Interprofessional Care; series editor for ‘Promoting Partnership for Health’ for Wylie Blackwell; President of the UK Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education (CAIPE); President of the General Practice with Primary Care Section of the Royal Society of Medicine; Honorary Fellow and Emeritus Professor of Interprofessional Education at the University of Westminster; and Visiting Professor in that field at Greenwich University, King’s College London, Kingston University with St George’s University of London, and formerly Nottingham University.
He serves on the Board of the International Association for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (InterEd) and the WHO study group reviewing interprofessional developments worldwide. The University of Southampton awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in 2006 for his seminal role in promoting interprofessional education nationally and internationally.
His background is in probation, prison aftercare and criminology, and as assistant director of the then UK Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work.
