Biography
Linda is currently Associate Dean for Practice Education, Head of the School of Nursing and Reader in Nursing in the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences. She is a qualified adult nurse and nurse teacher registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.Her role includes overall responsibility for pre-registration nursing programmes, leading developments such as a new Foundation Degree for assistant practitioners working with clients with long term conditions, and developing and supporting research and evaluation in learning and teaching.
Linda is a referee for a number of important journals including Nurse Education Today, the Journal of Advanced Nursing and the Journal of Interprofessional Care. She is also a reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and provides advice to a number of universities for quality assurance issues.
Linda’s research interests focus mainly on policy-related areas, notably the link between health policy and healthcare education. Her PhD evaluated the implementation of contracting for non-medical education and training and the impact of markets for health care education. She also has publications relating to learning and teaching including peer assisted learning, elearning, providing support in placements, and widening access to higher education.
