Biography

Sue is a Principal Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences where she has a remit for staff development and change management. An experienced lecturer, she teaches at pre-registration, CPPD and masters level on a range of nursing subjects and also mentorship. She also supervises MSc and BSc students.

Sue is currently working as a project manager for the NHS London Modernising Nursing Careers (MNC) Programme Team. She has a specific remit for scoping workplace and higher education preparation for the Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards (2010) which has entailed undertaking a survey with senior nurses in London and a separate survey with nine London universities. A report (March 2011) will identify challenges and good practice. In addition, Sue is identifying good practice in preceptorship initiatives in NHS London trusts, foundation trusts and primary care trusts.

Interests

Professional interests include clinical supervision and professional development. Sue is leading on a number of research studies including good practice in student support, effective teaching strategies in CPPD and the challenges of implementing sustainable clinical supervision in practice settings.
