Staff profile: Professor Fiona Ross

Biography

Fiona is Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education. She gained her first degree from Edinburgh University and a PhD at King's College London, and has worked in primary care in a variety of clinical and academic posts. In 1996 she was appointed to St George's Hospital Medical School's first chair in nursing (primary care) through its partnership with Kingston University, and then went on to be director of the National Nursing Research Unit in the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery at King's College London.

She has recently completed a study of nurse and teacher leaders in universities for the Leadership Foundation in Higher Education.

Fiona is a fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Sciences and has published extensively including a recent book on service user involvement in healthcare research. She is elected president of the International Collaboration of Community Health Nursing Research, fellow of the Queen's Nursing Institute, chair of London Higher's Healthcare Education Group and a trustee of Princess Alice Hospice.
