Biography

Ruth is the area lead for advanced studies and practitioner research. She currently teaches on the masters and doctoral programmes within the School of Education and leads on modules which focus on design and methods in educational research.

Ruth's research interests focus upon the pedagogy of educational technology, more specifically, the interface between the learner and digital technologies which include multimedia design for learning and multimodal forms of communication. Her research activity has focused on the use of digital technologies for teaching and learning within and across education settings, resulting in a wide range of publications in this area. Challenges associated with the design, development and implementation of technological innovations and the potential implications for the role of the teacher and the learner remain central, active ingredients of Ruth's work. Additional areas of interest include visual research methodologies, identification and provision for gifted, talented and able children.

In addition to her own work, Ruth also supervises student research dissertations at masters and doctoral level.
