Biography

Vivienne is a qualified social worker and practised as a generic worker before specialising in social work with children and families. She has also worked as an approved social worker in mental health, a practice teacher and manager in local authority children's services. She taught at Coventry University before moving to Kingston & St George's in 2007.

Here, her responsibilities have included course leader and admissions tutor on the BA (Hons) Social Work programme, and teaching on children's social work, research and management, and inter-professional education on the BA and MA Social Work programmes. She is also deputy course leader for post-qualifying programmes in Professional Child And Family Studies.

Vivienne has undertaken research in child protection and with looked after children, with a particular focus on leaving care transitions and advocacy. She has recently completed a PhD at the University of Warwick focusing on dilemmas in advocacy and social work with looked after children. She is currently involved in research in interprofessional ethics with children and young people in a London borough.
