Biography

John King is a senior lecturer in clinical leadership based in the School of Nursing. He teaches on the MSc Clinical Leadership. Prior to this he worked as a research associate supporting Dr Annette Boaz's programme of work on research impact and academic engagement with policy makers and practitioners.

John's broad area of research interest is how practitioners and policy makers interact with academics and how academic theories shape everyday practice. He studies the processes and contexts which support the transfer of social research into managerial practice and seeks to understand how practitioners learn from each other and from academic research.

He is presently working towards a PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London, which concerns the translational strategies practised by elite social scientists who act as policy entrepreneurs. Before undertaking his PhD, John worked as a Careers Adviser for the University of London with a special interest in supporting entrepreneurship. Prior to this he ran his own software development business.
