Sima qualified as a nurse before training as a midwife. She has been a practicing midwife since 1987, in various clinical roles within the NHS, most of which were based at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust.
Alongside her clinical role, Sima also worked as a research midwife at St George's, University of London, Department of Community Health Sciences, for 9 years. Most of her studies were related to women's health, infection and pregnancy outcome. Her specific research interest is the prevention and impact of sexually transmitted infection in pregnancy.
Between September 2005 and November 2014, Sima held three different teaching positions at King's College London, before joining the Faculty in June 2014. She leads on the PGDip Improving practice through research module, and is part of the teaching team on several modules across the undergraduate three year midwifery programme. She is also the cohort lead for the October 2013, 78-week programme.
Sima maintains her clinical role as a link lecturer at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust, supporting students and mentors.
