Biography

Anne-Marie qualified as a physiotherapist in Germany then lived and worked in Capetown for several years. There, she developed an interest in different health beliefs as drivers for varying rehabilitation approaches. Back in the UK, she then specialised in neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy and worked as the NHS Modernisation Agenda lead for low back pain at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore before adding an MSc in Health Psychology (City University) to her qualifications. The two strands of interest - neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy and health psychology - culminated in working with people with chronic pain, and a phenomenological study on that subject.

Anne-Marie teaches practical skills in neuro-musculoskeletal physiotherapy, rehabilitation related to chronic pain and the theoretical underpinning of these areas, as well as critical thinking and reflection as a basis for a human practice across all undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is also currently the admissions tutor for the MSc Exercise for Health.
