Biography

Francina was inspired to train as a nurse when working as a healthcare assistant at the Princess Alice Hospice, and became a qualified nurse in 1989. Her clinical experience includes roles in A&E, community nursing, practice nursing and walk-in centres.

Francina is an experienced lecturer having worked as a clinical nurse trainer for 11 years. She currently teaches and assesses student nurses, post-registration nurses and healthcare support workers, and has a particular passion for training healthcare assistants.

She leads on the development of study days and short courses aimed at bands 1-4 healthcare support workers and is actively involved in promoting the university as a provider of education for this staff group, networking locally and nationally with colleagues in those professions.

Francina also currently works as a nurse practitioner/non-medical prescriber in a general practice, undertaking all aspects of practice nursing and nurse practitioner work, and referring patients to other healthcare professionals/services when required.
