Biography

Prior to joining the Faculty, Hansa gained ten years' experience in radiography practice and education after qualifying as a diagnostic radiographer in Blackpool in 1982. She spent several years in clinical practice at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital and The Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, then joined KCARE (Kings Centre for the Assessment of Radiological Equipment) where she was involved in technical and clinical assessment of radiological equipment. During that time, she also assisted in training student radiographers. She became particularly interested in advances in radiography and was involved in research projects investigating the use of thin metal filter materials such as erbium and yttrium. Hansa then joined the teaching team at Kings College Hospital's School of Radiography in 1989 and later in 1991, Kings College, University of London, before joining Kingston & St George's in 1996.

Hansa is currently an associate professor, postgraduate admissions tutor and programme director for the MSc / PgD / PgC programmes in medical imaging, oncology practice, and breast evaluation.

At undergraduate level, Hansa leads modules in radiographic practice, skeletal imaging, professional and personal development, biology of disease and applied pathology. At postgraduate level she leads modules in quality and professional issues in healthcare, dissertation and health promotion. Other teaching areas include special needs for the elderly and ethnic minority groups, and public engagement in educational delivery.

Hansa additionally acts as clinical liaison tutor for King's College London Dental Institute, Surrey Primary Care Trust and the Rose Centre, St George's Hospital's National Breast Screening Education Centre. She is also currently a reviewer for the Journal of Radiotherapy Practice.
