Adult nursing

My clinical background as an adult nurse is in accident and emergency, and I have interests in major trauma and acute medicine, and those are the areas which I tend to specialise in with my teaching. I’ve published some chapters on those topics as well.

We make the course more challenging and inspiring through a range of approaches. There’s a real need to integrate theory and practice, so it’s about transferring what we learn in the classroom into real life scenarios, to provide a context for students and to be able to problem solve with the types of scenarios we face in practice.

As a lecturer at Kingston and St George’s, my job is stimulating, varied and rewarding. I enjoy seeing people develop. Obviously coming from a nursing background, there’s a caring element and an extensive of that caring towards our students. All students come from a different starting point, and it’s very rewarding to see them walk across the stage at graduation and to gain employment and be out there providing care for patients and service users.
