Shanti Bofoar, Social Work graduate, has been shortlisted for the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2014

Shanti BofoarRecent Social Work graduate Shanti Bofoar, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the national Social Worker of the Year awards. She was nominated for the Student Social Worker of the Year award by lecturer Dr Wilson Muleya.

Having just completed her Masters in Social Work, Shanti was the winner of the KU Talent 2014 Future Leader award and has secured a social work position with a local authority.

Shanti said: “I’m really excited about being short listed for the social worker award; it hasn’t quite sunk in yet but I’m very happy. Everything is going so well and I can’t wait to start my new job. As they say: ’my cup runneth over’. To be able to use your personal experience, knowledge and skills to help others through their own healing process is rewarding and a blessing in itself, but to be recognised for the difference you make is an added bonus. Thanks to everyone at Kingston Uni and St George’s University of London for all your support.”

Shanti has now been invited to the awards ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday 28 November where all the winners will be announced. There are 57 finalists across 15 categories and winners from each category will compete against each other to be named the Overall Social Worker of the Year 2014.
