I am a qualified physiotherapist with experience and a special interest in respiratory care. My professional expertise is in Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Chronic respiratory patient management and Home Oxygen Therapy. I completed my PhD from St. George's University of London. I am a member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) task force group of the HERMES educational project. The aim of the project is to develop a harmonized syllabus and curriculum for specialist respiratory physiotherapists across Europe. I publish and review for peer reviewed journals.
I have been involved in undergraduate and post-graduate student teaching in the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences since 2005. I have various teaching experience in higher education and over the years I was involved in lecturing, assessing, marking, tutoring students. I also have experience in supervising student research project and research methods tutorials.
Currently, I am involved in teaching across different modules and courses in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Nursing. I contribute to cardio-respiratory teaching on undergraduate and post-graduate levels. I am modules leader for pre-registered physiotherapy course - Management of Complex Cardio-Respiratory Dysfunction and Research Methods. My teaching covers a wide range of cardio-respiratory physiology and pathophysiology, physiotherapeutic management of cardio-respiratory dysfunction and long-term management of respiratory patients. I am also teaching about research methods and statistical analysis.
I am involved in research project supervision and marking. I have supervised MSc and MRes research projects.
Furthermore, I have been involved in teaching on a post-graduate Pulmonary Rehabilitation module and MSc in Rehabilitation Science programme.
I am also teaching various topics in respiratory care and respiratory physiotherapy to my clinical colleagues in the UK and in Poland.
