Tino joined the faculty as a postdoctoral researcher in 2016. He contributes to the programme of research led by Professor Fiona Jones MBE in rehabilitation for people who had a stroke, and self-management for people with different long-term conditions. Tino also contributes to the programme of research led by Professor Tom Quinn in emergency, cardiovascular and critical care.

Tino qualified as a physiotherapist in Vienna and has worked clinically in Germany, the United States and London, in neurology, respiratory care, senior health and rehabilitation. Pursuing his interest in research, Tino completed a masters in clinical practice at St George's, University of London, and a PhD in clinical neuroscience at King's College London.

Tino's research interests are varied and include current physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice, cough and respiratory function, the lived experience of disability, and self-management for people who are living with long-term conditions. Tino has a particular interest in applied clinical research, mixed-methods approaches, multi-disciplinary collaboration, participatory approaches and service user involvement in research.

Tino is a reviewer for Disability and Rehabilitation, Neurology and other journals. He is proud to maintain a link with his undergraduate training institution, FH Campus Vienna, Austria, where he is a guest lecturer in research methods and evidence-based practice
