Denise qualified as a mental health nurse in 1983 at St George's Hospital and subsequently worked in a variety of in-patient services and community settings. In 1995 she completed an MSc in Psychology and Health (Mental Health) and now teaches on the THORN course leading modules on mental health assessment and psychosocial interventions. She also acts as a liaison lecturer for Huntercombe Hospital in Roehampton, monitoring and evaluating the quality of student clinical placements. Denise has particular interests in psychosocial interventions for people with dementia, in work-based and transformational learning, and in practice development. She is currently working on cross-Faculty projects focused on communication with people with dementia and on practice development work in psychosocial interventions.
